Making your own muesli

Always wanted to be a muesli master but never had the time to nail down the basics? This is our step-by-step guide to personalising the breakfast staple.

Overnight Oats Small

 

What you’ll need:

  • Grains – oats, wheat flakes, rye flakes, quinoa flakes, psyllium husk – the choices are endless!
  • Fruit – dried, frozen or fresh – it’s all about your personal preference
  • Nuts and seeds– pick your favourite (we love almonds)
  • Almond Milk – any of the Almond Breeze varieties will make for tasty muesli
  • Honey, maple syrup, cinnamon

The base recipe:

1 cup grains: 2 cups almond milk : ½ cup fruit : ¼ cup nuts/seeds

Our favourite combinations!

Muesli makes for a nutritious and delicious breakfast and is super versatile. When we want something different we make overnight oats. This is quick and easy to make and always helps you ensure you have prepared a healthy brekkie when you’re in a rush in the morning.

Keep the dry ingredients in an airtight container. The night before eating simply add almond milk and fruit and refrigerate until morning.

 

Berry bonanza – serves 4

  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/8 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/8 cup chia seeds
  • ½ cup mixed frozen berries
  • 2 cups Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze

Combine all ingredients in a glass or mason jar, mix well and leave overnight. Sprinkle with banana or berries before serving and enjoy!

 

Apricot Delight – serves 4

  • ½ cup dried apricots (add just before serving)
  • ½ cup macadamia nuts, chopped
  • 1 cup oats
  • ¼ cup psyllium husk
  • 2 cups Unsweetened Almond Cashew Almond Breeze

Combine all ingredients in a glass or mason jar, mix well and leave overnight. Sprinkle with desired toppings and enjoy!

 

Chocolate Lover – serves 4

  • 2 cups Chocolate Almond Breeze
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • ¼ cup hazelnuts, chopped
  • ¼ cup chia seeds
  • 1 banana or blueberries, to serve

Simply combine ingredients in a mason jar, shake well and leave overnight. Sprinkle with banana or berries before serving and enjoy!
